Give Your Continental Burger A South Indian Twist With This Chennai Burger Recipe!

Ingredients:

For patties

Boiled potatoes (medium size) – 3
Onion finely chopped – 1
Green chilly – 1
Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

For tempering (tadka)

2-3 Curry  leaves – 1tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Urad dal – 1/4 tsp
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 1 tbsp

 

For chutney

Grated coconut – 1 bowl
Curd – 1 bowl
Coriander seeds – 1tsp
Green chilly – 1
Curry leaves – 3-4
Salt to taste
Oil for tempering (tadka) – 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Green peas – 1/2 cup
Burger buns – 2

For garnishing

Slices of onion and tomatoes with potato or banana wafers.

Method:

For Patties :
1. Prepare the tempering (tadka) by heating the oil, add the mustard seeds, cumins seeds, curry leaves and stir till the mustard seeds crackle.
2. Add turmeric powder, finely chopped onion, chilly and garam masala and salt to taste.
3. Add boiled potatoes and lemon juice. Mix well and  keep it aside to cool. Make patties according to the size of burger.

For Chutney :
1. Grind grated coconut, green chilly, curd, green peas together.
2. Temper (tadka) the chutney with mustard seeds.

For arranging burger :
1. Take the burger bun and cut it into two halves.
2. Toast the buns in a pan using a oil or butter.
3. Take one part of the bun and apply chutney using spoon, place patty, onion and tomato slices and again spread chutney on it.
4. Cover it with another toasted bun and serve it with potato or banana wafers.
