Holi Special : Presenting Two Colored And Two Flavored Kachori!

Ingredients:-

  1. Yellow mung dal – 1 cup
  2. Crushed peas – 1 cup
  3. Crushed peanuts – 2 tbsp
  4. Crushed fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
  5. Dry mango powder – 2 tsp
  6. All purpose flour – 2 cups
  7. Salt – to taste
  8. Garam masala – 1 tsp
  9. Castor sugar – 2 tsp
  10. Red chilli – 2 tsp
  11. Edible yellow and edible green colour – a pinch
  12. Oil – 1 tbsp
  13. Chopped onion – as preferred
  14. Semolina – 2 tbsp
  15. Oil – to fry
  16. Chopped green coriander – 1 tbsp
  17. Desiccated coconut – 2 tbsp
For accompaniments:-
Green chutney

Method:-

  1. Soak yellow mung dal in water for 3 – 4 hours. After they are soaked, cook them and keep it aside to cool.
  2. Heat some oil in a pan, add cooked dal, crushed peas and saute for 5 minutes.
  3. Add salt, chilli powder, dry mango powder, garam masala, crushed fennel seeds, and mix well.
  4. Add castor sugar, desiccated coconut, chopped coriander, onion, mix well and keep it aside to cool.
  5. Once it has cooled down, add crushed peanuts and mix well.
  6. In a bowl, mix all purpose flour, add salt, semolina and heated oil and knead a firm dough.
  7. Divide this dough into two parts and add a yellow colour in one part and green colour in the other. Keep it aside for an hour.
  8. Make medium sized balls from both parts of the dough.
  9. Stuff the stuffing and seal properly. Make sure both the colours of the dough are visible.
  10. Deep fry them till golden brown.
  11. Serve hot with the green chutney.
