Mahashivratri Fast Special : Halwa Tarts!


For tart:-
  1. Barnyard millet flour (moraiya) – 1 cup
  2. Oil – 1 tbsp
  3. Cooking soda – a pinch
  4. Milk – for binding
For halwa:-
  1. Milk powder – 1/2 cup
  2. Amaranth flour (rajgira flour) – 1 tbsp
  3. Sugar – 1/2 cup
  4. Saffron – a pinch
  5. Vegetable oil, raisins, and almonds – 2 tbsp
  6. Edible yellow colour – a pinch


  1. Knead a firm dough by mixing all the ingredients of the flour together.
  2. Prepare small balls from the dough, shape them into tarts and bake them in the oven at 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
  3. Once done, keep it aside to cool.
  4. Heat some vegetable oil in a pan, add milk powder and  Amaranth flour in it and roast it for a while.
  5. Add sugar, Saffron, edible yellow colour in 2 cups of water and dissolve it. Pour this mixture in the mixture prepared in the pan.
  6. Cook till the mixture thickens.
  7. Add raisins and almonds in it.
  8. Once done, stuff this mixture in the prepared tarts and serve.
