Presenting Idli Pizza : An Innovative Way To Make Boring Idli Interesting

Ingredients :-

  1. Rice – 3/4 cup
  2. Urad dal – 1/4 cup
  3. Buttermilk – as required
  4. Green peas – 1/2 cup
  5. Sliced onion – 1
  6. Chopped capsicum – 1
  7. Sliced tomatoes – 1
  8. Grated mozzarella cheese – 1/2 cup
  9. Oregano – 1 tsp
  10. Chilli flakes – 1 tsp
  11. Baking soda – 1/4 tsp
  12. Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
For accompaniments :-
Green chutney

Method :-

  1. Soak rice and urad dal/lentil in water for 3 to 4 hours.
  2. Strain the water, add Buttermilk in the mixture and blend it in the blender.
  3. Keep this readied batter aside for 4 to 5 hours to ferment.
  4. Once the batter has risen add salt, peas, red chilli powder, baking soda and cook/steam them for 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. Add onion, tomatoes, capsicum, oregano, chilli flakes, salt, cheese on top of the prepared idlis.
  6. Heat a non stick pan and add these prepared idlis in it and cover the pan with a lid and cook it for 8 to 10 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with chutney.
