Winter Gujarati Cuisine Special: Steamed Tomato Muthiya!

Ingredients :-

  1. Wheat flour – 1 1/2 bowl
  2. Multigrain flour – 1/2 bowl
  3. Finely chopped fenugreek – 1 bowl
  4. Tomato paste – 1 1/2 bowl
  5. Green chillies paste – 2
  6. Jaggery – 1/2 bowl
  7. Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  8. Coriander seeds powder – 2 tsp
  9. Red chilli powder – 3 tsp
  10. Salt – to taste
  11. Cooking soda – a pinch
  12. Oil – 2 tbsp
  13. Oil For tempering along with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chillies
For garnishing :-
Chopped coriander and dessicated coconut

Method :-

  1. Mix all flours in a bowl, chopped fenugreek, spices, salt, oil, green chilli paste, and mix well.
  2. In another bowl, mix tomato paste and Jaggery together.
  3. Add this mixture into the mixture of flours and add water if required to knead a firm but soft dough.
  4. Make medium sized balls of the prepared dough and steam them for 30 to 45 minutes.
  5. Once it is done, and has cooled, cut into small pieces.
  6. Heat some oil in a pan and prepare a temper using mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chillies and once it begins to crackle, add it to the cut pieces.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander and dessicated coconut and serve hot.
